Spring Cleaning- Kitchen Edition

Spring Cleaning continues!  For Part 1 Bathroom Spring Cleaning click here.

Now for the Kitchen.

Get a basket and go through the kitchen to collect anything that does not belong and return items in there correct room. Wash all dishes and put away. Collect all supplies you will need for kitchen cleaning and place them in the same basket.

What you will need

  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Essential Oil such as Lemon, Lavender, or preferred choice (optional)
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Dish Soap
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Bucket
  • Mop
  • Broom
  • Sponge/Rag
  • Spray Bottle
  • Cooler

Remove food from fridge/freezer and place into cooler, unplug fridge/freezer. Remove any ice that may have built up in freezer. Sprinkle fridge/freezer with baking soda and spray with vinegar. Remove racks from oven/stove and microwave plate, set aside. Sprinkle oven, stove, microwave, and all sinks with baking soda and spray with vinegar. Let baking soda and vinegar solution set and move onto other cleaning.

If you have any curtains or blinds in your kitchen remove, wash, and hang back up. Starting top to bottom dust all ceilings and walls with wet rag. Clean all light fixtures and fans of dust and dirt, remove to clean if necessary. With soapy rag clean window screens, window trim, and doorways. Spray rubbing alcohol on windows, and wipe with a clean rag. Remove all contents of counters, shelves, cabinets and drawers clean thoroughly with rag and soapy water. Clean all kitchen appliances. After your counters, shelves, cabinets, and drawers are cleaned go through items. Get rid of things you have doubles of or never used items! Replace items in organized fashion best for you, put most used items easiest to reach.  For old or not usable throw away. Items that are good, but are never used by you and taking up space decide to either donate or place in a box to sell.

After thirty or more minutes have passed use sponge or rag to scrub things that have been soaking with baking soda and vinegar, and rinse with warm water (and a few drops of essential oil if using.) All stains should be removed, but if necessary repeat baking soda and vinegar process until gone. 

Remove all food from pantry and wipe surfaces. Go through food in cooler and food from pantry and throw away all expired food or food your family will never eat. Replace food back to pantry, fridge, and freezer in organized fashion.

Sweep or vacuum floors thoroughly. Fill bucket with warm water and mix in 1/4 Cup Vinegar, 1/4 Cup Baking Soda, 1 Teaspoon Dish Soap, (and a few drops of essential oil.) Mop floors with solution then with warm water and let air dry.
