I love making holiday themed food! These are perfect for the 4th of July! Here are two retro inspired pie recipes for a homemade Cherry Pie and homemade Blueberry Pie

Blueberry Pie

Ingredients

  • homemade double pie crust (click here for my recipe)
  • 5 cups fresh blueberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Prepare pie crust and line pie pan with half of dough.
  3. Mix together sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Toss in blueberries and lemon juice.
  4. Pour mixture into prepared pie pan. Dot with butter.
  5. Bake pie for 35-40 minutes.
  6. Roll out the remaining dough and cut "star" shaped cutouts. Place star cutouts onto a cookie sheet. Slightly wet cutouts with water and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden.
  7. After pie and cutout stars are done arrange stars on pie and let cool.
